arizona desert: painting study

For this painting i worked only with the palette knives. I'm trying to learn to use this tool! I realize that it's kind of hard to make small details. I had hard time with the tree log at the front and the small bushes.

I took a random (well not that random) picture of desert scene and google and went with it.

If there's palette knives painter out there, please give your impression and hints that will be grandly appreciated.
